By: Carr Marketing Communications Registration for the event will begin at 10 a.m. and those who still wish to participate can sign up at www.polarplungeny.org. Participants can create their own Polar Plunge Web page so friends, family and co-workers can easily donate online. Tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event. Festivities for the Polar Plunge begin Friday, Dec. 3 with a pre-party at City Tavern from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission of $10 includes draft beer, drink specials, a chili cook off and bloody Mary contest. Plungers will be allowed to register early while at the party. On Saturday, Dec. 4, plungers will find a heated tent, music, an assortment of food and drink and auctions. Dinner with Joe DeLamielleure will be one of the many items up for bid. Prizes will be given out for the top fundraising high school, college, team and individual as well as the largest team and best costume. The 2010 Plunge currently has 200 more participants than 2009 and more than $55,000 raised for Special Olympics and its athletes. Special Olympics New York provides year-round sports training and competition in 22 Olympic-style sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities at no cost to the athletes, their families or caregivers. More than 48,000 athletes train and compete with Special Olympics New York, the largest Special Olympics program in North America. End
