AccuQuilt Supports Women through Go Red for Women Event

Nov. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- (FREMONT, Neb.) AccuQuilt, a leader in fabric cutting solutions for quilting and fabric crafts, participated as a sponsor in the American Heart Association’s fifth annual Go Red for Women Expo in Omaha, Neb. on November 4th. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women; so dollars raised during the event will be used to provide life-saving research and educate women about heart disease.

Lynette Nabity, a member of the American Heart Association’s Omaha executive committee and co-owner of AccuQuilt’s parent company, TEK Industries, said her personal experience with heart disease made the event particularly important to her. “I was thrilled that our own AccuQuilt, a company that supports the life-affirming creative endeavors of women, could provide monetary and moral support for this important women’s cause that has so closely touched our lives,” she said. Lynette’s daughter, Cara, died at the age of 19 from congenital heart disease.

The company’s national sales manager, Linda Pumphrey, said contributing to the event demonstrates AccuQuilt’s ongoing commitment to quilters. “The majority of quilters are women, so it’s fitting for us to show our support for women and their hearts through sponsoring the Go Red for Women Expo and American Heart Association,” she said. This is the second year in a row AccuQuilt has been the Faces of Heart sponsor of the event, donating thousands of dollars to benefit research and education.
