By: Amber Weeks Ed Bath launched CitiWood Urban Forest Products with the vision of providing quality home furnishings made from fallen trees. The company recovers trees that are destined for the landfill and creates beautiful custom furniture using traditional construction techniques and environmentally- Every year, Americans bury about 4 billion board feet of usable hardwood trees in landfills. That's 7 million tons or about 25% of the virgin American forests that we cut down each year. This is a tremendous waste of a great natural resource! Unlike companies using reclaimed wood, which has been taken from its original structure to be re-purposed once it is no longer needed, CitiWood takes wood only from trees that have fallen naturally or are already being removed by the homeowner. By working with local tree removal companies, CitiWood helps relieve the burden on our landfills and offers a unique product to their customers. The process begins with an urban log and ends with a piece of furniture that can be passed down for generations. CitiWood specializes in casual seating and tables made from Virginia hardwoods, but offers many accessories as well. An on-site upholstery shop gives customers the opportunity to choose special fabrics and sizes to match their particular needs. No home is too big or small and no décor is too hard to match. “CitiWood Urban Forest Products gives fallen trees a second life as beautiful and long-lasting home furnishings” CitiWood’s products are available through their website (http://www.citiwood.com), at their workshop (4200 Eubank Road, Ste F, Richmond, Virginia 23231), or at select stores in the Richmond area.
