Murphys Trucks Launch New Truck Testing Service Online

Nov. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Murphys Trucks in Dublin are pround to announce the lauch of their new online booking service for truck testing. In Ireland, commercial vehicles need to undergo a roadworthiness test annually. Upon passing of the test then the vehicle can be taxed for use on the road. There are two main types of test, the LGV test and the HGV test, at Murphy's we carry out both types of test. THe test is often called either the Doe test, which is for Department of Enviroment or the VTN test, which is for the Vehicle Test Network.

Our new online booking service is easy to use and enables customers to reserve their exact test type well in advance. The test descriptions make it easy for customers to make some checks to thier own vehicles to increase their chances of getting a pass certificate. The doe pass certificate is valid for exactly 1 year.

The LGV test applies to vehicles that are under 3500kgs gross, this is the majority of panel vans and jeeps. You can always check your VLC, vehicle licencing cert, which has the gross vehicle weight of your vehicle on it. The HGV test is require on all vehicles that exceed the thresholds for the LGV test, the HGV test categories can be seen on our website and exact prices are beside each type of DOE / VTN test. The HGV test reuires more time to complete than the lighter tests. This is simply down to the number of axles that larger vehicles have. During the test each axles is checked for braking efficiency and also for component wear.
