Android App for Helping Hunters

Nov. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- PALATINE, Ill., — In this day and age of technology, you may have your typical checklist, including binoculars, scents, decoys, etc., but did you pack your smartphone too?  Jebs Apps, LLC recently launched GoldenPic, an Android application primarily for photographers, but quickly becoming known in the hunting community.

GoldenPic is a simple app that grabs your current GPS coordinates and displays the sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour and weather for any location in the world.  While the golden and blue hours may bring the best lighting conditions for a photographer, how can this help hunters?

According to Pa Outdoors (blogger at ForHuntersByHunters), “GoldenPic gives you the blue and golden hours (which change depending on your location) not just sunrise and sunset. This is the period that deer are most active and travel from bedding to feeding areas and vice-versa.” He went on to say, "This is the best android application that I have found for hunting hours and planning your trek to your tree stand in the morning."

Chris on the Android Market says, “(I) was really fed up with carrying around game regulations for the sunrise/sunset tables...this app is awesome, for I am a big time bow-hunter. Thanks!”

Even fishermen have gotten in on the action, “I like it. I'm a big fly fisherman and the national parks only allow fishing one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset, so this will be handy.” said Alan Holmes.

GoldenPic comes in two flavors, the Lite and Paid version.  Both versions will provide you with the sunrise, sunset, golden hour and blue hour (in 12 or 24 hour format), local weather (in Celcius or Farenheit), and will automatically determine the correct timezone.  While both versions provide these great features, GoldenPicLite does not allow you to change your location or email the results.  However, for only $1.99, you can unlock these features as well as remove the advertisements (from the Lite version).
