The episode, slated to air in November 2010, will explore the history and manufacturing of chains, wire and rope.
By: Gladding Braided Products “The filming crew was great. They wanted to understand our entire process: from the raw materials we purchase, to the machines we create, to the variety of products we manufacture and sell.” “We discussed wire (tinned copper, silver-plated and stainless steel), synthetic fibers (nylon, fiberglass, Teflon), braiding machines, and the inventions and efficiency ingenuity we have created in the plant. They were fascinated at the breadth of our products from ignition wire, to Teflon braider suture threads, to air hose protection for jet fighter ejection seats, to the everyday common braid or rope. It was an exhausting yet exhilarating day. We love sharing what we do with others.” In addition to Christakos, several Gladding employees were featured including Charles Bishop and Ed Rothwell, plant managers; and divisional vice presidents, Mike Radziwon and Mark Jenner. “The History Channel’s timing was perfect,” explained Jenner. “Gladding is expanding; we are adding about 10,000 square feet of manufacturing space to our existing 85,000 sq. foot factory. This allows us to accommodate more quality stations and wire equipment for our expanding business. “Our people should all be proud of this national recognition,” ABOUT GLADDING: Gladding was established in 1816 and is one of the leading texitle and wire manufacturers in the United States.
