Oct. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- WILLIAMSPORT, COLLEGEVILLE AND PHILADELPHIA, PA – Philadelphia, PA Periodontist Dr. David DiGiallorenzo is happy with the study results published by the American Academy of Periodontology regarding the relationship between staying in shape and maintaining healthy teeth and gums.

“On the surface, it seems as though these two things don’t relate to each other, but this study in the Journal of Periodontology proves that there is a connection,” DiGiallorenzo said.

The study appeared in the August 2010 issue of the Journal and found that people who stayed physically fit and weren’t overweight were less likely to be diagnosed with severe periodontitis, according to information posted on the AAP website.

DiGiallorenzo calls the study results enlightening, and said he hopes this information will help drive home the point that physical fitness promotes healthy teeth and gums.
