Follow on Google News | ![]() Brandman University Partners with The Soldiers Project to Help Bring Troops "All The Way Home"Brandman University has partnered with The Soldiers Project to host an event that focuses on the effects of war on the community and the opportunities available to veterans returning from duty.
“Into The Fire” is a play and presentation that focuses on service members and their challenges with re-integrating into their communities and with their families. It includes a documentary that brings the audience through the lives of 11 soldiers, as they experience the full cycle of serving in the American military. The training explores the psychological injuries that returning OIF/OEF may return home with and provides the education needed to help these individuals assimilate back into society. Speakers at the event include: Judith T. Broder, M.D., founder and director of The Soldiers Project, and Ted Puntillo, Deputy Secretary of the California Department of Veteran Affairs. They will be offering counseling for service members and their families while providing support through their expertise in psychology and military affairs respectively. This training is for employers, managers, teachers/faculty, family members and anyone who works with or cares about how to assist these service members during their transition. The course/event meets the qualification for six hours of continuing education credit for MFT’s/LCSW’ Admission is free, RSVP is appreciated but walk-ins are welcome. The Soldiers Project provides help to service members and families struggling with issues related to the overwhelming trauma of war including the cycle from pre-deployment to deployment to homecoming and re-entry to civilian life.
