Established in 1960, Acme Carbide Die, Inc. builds tooling for virtually all metalforming processes.
By: Allen Schmitt Originally named Rickert Carbide Die, Clyde Rickert and Steve Mascow established the Company in 1955 as a carbide die shop serving the automotive industry. In 1960, Rickert and Mascow parted ways and Mascow with a new partner, John Peroge re-named the company Acme Carbide Die, Inc. In 1968, Alfred Schmitt purchased Peroge’s portion of the business. Allen Schmitt, son of Alfred, joined the company in 1969 as a tool and die maker apprentice. The Schmitt’s purchased Mascow’s portion of the company in 1972 and Alfred Schmitt became sole owner. After 23 years of experience in the metal forming industry, Allen Schmitt, along with wife, Sharron purchased the business and became the new owners, and have been the owners up to today. Starting as a carbide die shop, Acme Carbide Die, Inc. has grown to be a manufacturer of carbide and steel precision tools for cold heading, cold forming, warm forging, powder metal compacting, upsetting, and extrusion. The MMTC is a division of the National Institute for Standards and Technology. MMTC worked with Acme Carbide Die, Inc. to develop a new website, fully optimized for search engine rankings.
