Gurnee Dentist Participates In Give Back A Smile Program For Victims Of Domestic Violence.

Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- Dr Shapira and Dr Mark Amidei are owners of Delany Dental Care and are commited to excellence in dentistry and community service.  For many years they have donated smile whitening and brightening to local charites for auction.

They are both members of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and members of the "Give Back a Smile Campaign" for members of domestic violence.  The program requires that victims be away from their abusers for a minimum of 12 months before qualifying for the program.  Dr Shapira worked in conjuntion with James Song of Prowest Dental Labratories who provided thousand of dollars in free labratory services for the smile makeover.  James Song is also a member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.  

Cosmetic Dentistry and reconstruction is often financially out of reach of victims of domestic violence which is why the leadership of the AACD created the Give Back A Smile Program.

The smile makeover will be auctioned off at the event with a minimal donation bid of $8000.

FORCE is an Acronym for "Fighting Our Risk Of Cancer Enpowered" a group dedicated to helping women and their families at increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer due to gene mutations.  The BRAC1 and BRAC2 mutations are the most common and best known mutations.

Dr Shapira and Dr Amidei are well known for their 26 years of general dental practice in Gurnee as well as their exquisite cosmetic reconstructions.  Dr Shapira is also a pioneer in the field of Dental Sleep Medicine offering comfortable alternatives to CPAP.  Dr Shapira is also known for his expertise in treating TMJ disorders, migraines and tension-type headaches through neuromuscular dental techniques.  He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Dental Editor of Sleep and Health Journal.
