Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- SheHeroes tells the stories of extraordinary women who are role models in diverse careers via web videos, kids’ events and other media. SheHeroes wants kids to know that there are people like them who have worked hard and overcome challenges, so that they too can dream big and become tomorrow's heroes. SheHeroes provides parents, mentors, and educators with highly engaging and impactful tools to allow them to connect with kids and facilitate discussion about career and life choices broadening their vision of a positive future.

It’s vital to expose young girls and boys to shining examples of female role models that are not in traditional roles. Just this year the Media Awareness Network made this statement, “Commercials aimed at kids spend 55% of their time showing boys building, fixing toys, or fighting. They show girls, on the other hand, spending 77% of their time laughing, talking or observing other. And while boys in commercials are shown out of the house 85% of the time, more than half of the commercials featuring girls place them in the home.”

The best thing about SheHeroes is that our videos are free and readily available on the web. This means our message can reach children across the socioeconomic spectrum. SheHeroes is a counterpoint to mainstream media images providing both girls and boys with broader potential visions of themselves. Mainstream media still tends to typecast boys and girls:

Past interview have been with some of the following amazing women,

Aerospace Engineer and Paralympic Gold Medalist Adrienne Rivera
Historian, MacArthur “Genius Grant” award recipient Patty Limerick
Denver Division Police Chief  Tracie Keesee
President and CEO of WOW! Internet-Cable-Phone  Colleen Abdoulah
Professor Margaret Murnane

Visit  http://sheheroes.org/ and start inspiring the girls in your life.
