Uncover Masks and Vintage at Blackbird Attic

Oct. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Blackbird Attic, a consignment boutique in Beacon, N.Y., is hosting an art show featuring artist Matt Cipov. The show, entitled We Are Masks, will open on Saturday, October 9th. and will run until November 12th.  
   A reception, which is open to the public, will be held on opening night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
   Just in time for the Halloween holiday, We Are Masks, highlights Cipov's fascination with the playful and secretive nature of masks, and the monsters they can represent.
   "Monsters and ghouls tend to pop up in every avenue of art I work in," says Cipov. "Beyond zombies and beasts, I give a lot of love to fringe animals like piranhas, jellyfish, and all sorts of strange birds."
   His illustrations combine hand drawings with halting cursive script, scraps of ruled paper and postal ink stamps to create a unique, seemingly random, layered effect.
   Cipov, who hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 1999.  Now married and a father, Cipov works as a self-employed artist and designer.
