Previvors Book Published On Heels of New Nationally-Recognized Previvor Day

Sept. 27, 2010 - PRLog -- BOCA RATON, FL - September 27th, 2010 – On the first National Previvor Day, women at risk for developing hereditary breast cancer are earning recognition from Capitol Hill to Main Street.  Directly on the heels of this high-profile official recognition, Previvors: Facing the Breast Cancer Gene and Making Life-Changing Decisions will be published by Penguin on October 5th. It is the first comprehensive guidebook for breast cancer previvors: people who have not had the disease but have a predisposition to develop it.

On September 15th, 2010 the House of Representatives passed a resolution designating the last week of September National Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) Week and the last Wednesday of September National Previvor Day (September 29th). The initiative was driven forward by Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), and organizations including Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE), Bright Pink, and the Young Survival Coalition. A few days after HBOC week concludes, the book Previvors goes on sale, further heightening awareness among women at risk for breast cancer.
