Sept. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Audiologists recommend using hearing aids when suffering from loss of hearing. Wearing these helpers will improve your hearing and allow you to lead a normal life. Once you have been fitted for prescription hearing aids, there are steps you can follow which will help you get used to your little helpers.

Visiting your Miami Audiologist, like Dr. Duran is the first step when dealing with hearing loss. The Audiologist will assist you in inserting the hearing aid and regulating them according to the degree of your hearing loss and hearing preferences. There, you will receive instructions on how to care for the hearing aid and an explanation of how hearing aids react in different situations.

Getting used to the new hearing aids takes time. Use them a few hours each day. Begin by watching TV or talking with someone. At first, you will have to get used to your own voice, since it may seem loud or different. Adjust the volume to speak more softly. Write down your experiences, as it will aid your doctor in your next visit to adjust the hearing aid to your specific needs. For any questions, visit your local Miami Hearing Center.
