Introduced in 1999, MACA FORTE® was the first ever standardized maca extract (Lepidium meyenii W) to glucosinolates. MACA FORTE® is an extract manufactured with a NON GMO carrier, standardized to 0.60% glucosinolates. Now, thanks to an innovative proprietary extraction method, Rainforest Botanicals announces the introduction of MACA FORTE® 1%, the highest concentration of glucosinlates found in any maca extract in the world.
Working directly with farmers throughout the Peruvian Andes, Rainforest Botanicals and its team of scientist were able to identify a specific maca genotype and the proper extraction method, to maximize the concentration and bio-ability of natural occurring glucosinolates.
Glucosinolates in maca are used as chemical markers to identify extracts of the plant and are suspected of being responsible for its libido-enhancing effects. Widely recognized for cancer chemo-preventive and antimutagenic  activities, glucosinolates enter our diet through cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, a plant related to maca.
