Foundation Offers Training Program Titled "Nonprofit in a Nutshell"

The training will focus on five key areas of nonprofit management – budgeting and accounting, marketing and public relations, fundraising, event coordination, and human resources and volunteer management.

Sept. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Interested community members from Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore will have an opportunity to enhance their volunteer effectiveness through a deeper understanding of how nonprofits function in a six-session training program sponsored by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore beginning on October 6th and continuing on October 13, 20 and November 3, 10, 17.

The program, titled “Nonprofit in a Nutshell,” will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Foundation’s Nonprofit Support Center in Salisbury.  Registration is required at $75 per person for the series.  A light dinner will be provided at each session.

The training will focus on five key areas of nonprofit management – budgeting and accounting, marketing and public relations, fundraising, event coordination, and human resources and volunteer management.  Attendees will participate in interactive sessions conducted by experienced professionals and respected local volunteers.

“In today’s economy, non-profits rely more than ever on volunteer support.  Well-trained volunteers able to take on operational tasks such as marketing, grant-writing, or event planning can be vital to the continued success of our local organizations,” said Spicer Bell, president of the foundation.

The program is designed for current volunteers looking for more meaningful involvement with their organization, potential volunteers hoping to see where their skills may be of benefit to an organization, or individuals considering a career in the non-profit field.  Non-profit organizations are also encouraged to send key volunteers to the training, as well as new staff members seeking a better understanding of nonprofit operations.

More information about this and additional educational opportunities is available by visiting the home page of the Foundation’s web site at www.cfes.org and clicking on “Events”, or you may contact Erica Joseph, Program Officer, at 410-742-9911.
