Sept. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Hattons Solicitors have been avid supporters of St Helens RLFC (Saints) since they opened their first office in 2001 and started sponsoring the rugby league club.

This week marks a momentous time in the Saints history, as they say Farewell to Knowsley Road in their last league match at the club, and Hattons Solicitors are sponsoring this landmark event.

Kicking off at 6.45pm on Saturday September 4, Saints will be looking to give themselves the best possible chance of finishing in second, whilst Castleford Tigers are fighting for eighth and a shot at the playoffs.

The matchday will include a fantastic package of entertainment for the last ever League game with a special performance from the Saintsations, an official Matchball presentation, guard of honour, and a tear-jerking rendition from Rainford Brass Band.

Starting off this event is pre-match game with a team of Saints Legends who will take on a Saints Academy Select in a curtain raiser.

The charity organisation the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF)have organised a fantastic line up of past players to play in the Legends team, taking on the future stars of the Club. Hattons Solicitors are also sponsors of the SPF charity, supporting the Try Assist Fund and Christies Hospital.

Kicking off at 5.30pm, the pre-match game will be split over two halves of 20 minutes and the Legends team will be coached by none other than Alex Murphy OBE.

Lining up for the Legends are Steve Prescott MBE, Anthony Stewart, Paul Loughlin, Paul Newlove, Anthony Sullivan, Tommy Martyn, Neil Holding, Vila Matautia, Mark Lee, Jonathon Neil, Chris Joynt, Ian Pickavance and Paul Sculthorpe.

Chris Smith, Jason Roach, Steve Hall, Paul Forber, Bernard Dwyer and Chris Arkwright will make up a formidable subs bench.

“The Old Lady has so many fond memories for everyone since it all began in 1890,” Chris Joynt said. “It is a tremendous honour to be able to grace the turf one last time and the prospect of taking on the academy side will certainly be a test for our legs.

“We are confident that our experience will make it competitive. It will be an emotional occasion.”

At the turnstiles, fans will have the opportunity to support the inspirational Steve Prescott on his next probably most arduous challenge to date – the “Steve Prescott’s Engage Mutual Challenge”.

On September 28, Steve will be running from the Hull KC Stadium to the Grand Final at Old Trafford.

This is an incredible 104 miles in four days which equates to four Marathons. Fans can run alongside Steve and for further information please visit www.steveprescottfoundation.co.uk

Please give generously to support Steve’s efforts in raising money and awareness for the two charities the Foundation supports The Christie Hospital and the Try Assist Fund. Every single penny makes a difference to so many lives and is really appreciated.

Saints will announce their 17 Greatest Players on the night too and you will also be able to bid a fond farewell one of the Club’s greatest players in Keiron Cunningham.
