M201 Enhanced Rotary Gas Meter Tester provides accurate differential premeasurement

The Meriam Process Technologies’ M201 Enhanced Rotary Gas Meter Tester allows instrument technicians to accurately measure the pressure drop across rotary vane positive displacement meters.

Sept. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Cleveland, OH – August 2010 – The Meriam Process Technologies’ M201 Enhanced Rotary Gas Meter Tester allows instrument technicians to accurately measure the pressure drop across rotary vane positive displacement meters.

To avoid the uncertainty caused by the pulsation associated with rotary meter drop tests, the M201 features special firmware designed to mathematically average DP readings over the test period. When the averaging feature is active, the M201 takes pressure readings over the user-defined period of time and, at the end of the test interval, displays the true average of the readings. This minimizes the effects of pulsating pressure and surges in flow, guarantying a consistent and operator independent test methodology. Minimum and Maximum pressures recorded during the test period can also be displayed. The end result is an accurate and consistent measure of pressure drop across the meter. Comparison of a meter’s drop test results over time will identify faulty meters that need service or replacement. The M201 ultimately helps to minimization revenue lost through inaccurate billing.

The M201 is easy to use: Simply press the “start/stop” key to initiate the test and press the key again to stop the test. The M201 calculates and displays the mathematical average of the differential pressures over the user defined test period along with the test time. The averaging feature, high resolution and accuracy make this meter an excellent replacement for glass manometers, mechanical gauges and expensive electronic products used to test commercial and industrial rotary meters.

Rotary Vane Positive Displacement Meters are used to bill commercial, large residential and small industrial accounts. Slow meters cost natural gas distributors money and virtually all post installation influences on the meter cause a slowing of the flow measurement. The M201 creates value with every use and can pay for itself within months with a single faulty large volume gas meter. The M201 is tailored for use for lines with pressures to 150 PSIG — it is not designed for transcontinental gas lines where higher line pressures are present.
