“We will hold a book drive at our location in City Marketplace to help encourage children to start reading at a young age,” said owner Mita Tomerlin. ”All the books collected will be donated to the Flagler Palm Coast Kiwanis Club at the end of the month,” she added. To encourage donations, the person that donates the most books will win a $20 Amazon Gift Card.
Kumon is located on the second floor in City Marketplace at 160 Cypress Point Pkwy Suite A206. They are open Monday and Thursday from 1:30pm until 7:30pm and books will be accepted during these hours.
Kumon is an after-school math and reading enrichment program that unlocks the potential of children so they can achieve more on their own. Kumon Math and Reading Center of Palm Coast opened in 2010 and is celebrating their 5-year anniversary this year. Their mission is to bring the benefits of learning through the time-tested (over 50 years) Kumon Method. Kumon is the world’s largest after-school math and reading enrichment program, which allows students of all ages and abilities to develop the skills necessary to have a richer, more successful educational experience.
The instructors at Kumon design an individualized math and reading program for their students that allow them to advance at their own pace. They have an emphasis on individualized learning so children will become independent, self-reliant, and motivated to learn on their own. Those interested can call to schedule a free placement test.
