Follow on Google News | Performance Review Jeep Wrangler vs. Toyota FJ Cruiser Tunkhannock Auto Mart Is A Jeep DealerTunkhannock Auto Mart discusses FJ Cruiser top-notch off-roading machine or Jeep Wrangler, the very symbol off-road capability, who is the king.
By: Tunkhannock Auto Mart With its tighter turning circle, the Jeep is definitely sprier than the FJ Cruiser, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit jittery on the highway. What makes the Wrangler so well-liked is it works for those who want to stay on the road, it works for families, but it also works for hard core off road enthusiast. In fact it's a favorite in the industry. The Wrangler is one of the most capable off-road vehicles available today. Tunkhannock Auto Mart located minutes from Wilkes-Barre and Scranton just got a shipment of Wranglers and welcomes current customers and anyone interested in a Jeep to stop by their open-house in September. - As for the FJ Cruiser…"Cruising along in the low gear, the engine has a high-pitched whine that makes you feel like you're filming a segment of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom TV show." - BusinessWeek Tunkhannock Auto Mart agrees that the FJ Cruiser's engine isn't much more massive than the Jeep Wrangler's. The Jeep Wrangler could learn a lesson or two from the FJ Cruiser with respect to torque. Torque equals pickup, and the Toyota FJ Cruiser will have picked up and gone by the time the Jeep Wrangler finally gets moving. For power, there is only one option on the 2010 Wrangler and one for the Unlimited. A 3.8-liter V-6 is the sole drivetrain for the two-door Wrangler. The Unlimited gets its own 3.8-liter V-6 with slightly more horsepower and torque. The standard 3.8-liter V-6 engine produces 202 horsepower, and the standard transmission is a six-speed manual with overdrive. An optional four-speed automatic with overdrive is available. Compared to the last-generation Wrangler, the wheelbase is longer and the front and rear tracks are wider, the chassis has been stiffened and the suspension redesigned. All these things yield significant improvements in the ride and handling. However, on city streets, the Wrangler is pretty bouncy, and out on the freeway it can feel squiggly over pavement changes. Drivers with numerous kid-duty might favor the Toyota over the Jeep. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is likely a better choice than the Jeep Wrangler with respect to hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of belongings or big dogs. Towing is considerably more the Toyota's specialty than it is the Jeep Wrangler's. The current Jeep Wrangler is a lot roomier inside than pre-2007 models, thanks to its increased width. The larger Unlimited offers more than 80 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded flat. The headrests flip back, so they don't need to be removed, making it easy to switch between cargo and rear-seat-passenger modes. When it comes to convenience and comfort, you’ll have to take the Wrangler for a fill-up more often than the Toyota because of its tank size and fuel economy. But that balances out when you consider the jeep Wrangler provides more head-and leg-room to your passengers then the Toyota does.
