By: Imagemakers Inc. The City of Wamego launched a new front door, in the form of a newly designed and updated website, July 1. Feedback regarding the new website has been positive, according to City Manager, Merl Page. “We are pleased with the results and are finding it much more user friendly. In my opinion our goals for our new website have been met,” he said. Those goals included updating the image of the city, while making the website easier to navigate and allowing the city to quickly update information on it as needed. The impetus for the redesign originated from the Leaders’ Retreat held last year in Overland Park. “After the retreat a group of committed individuals continued to meet and discuss how to make Wamego better, to more effectively share information about the community and to better position the community to take advantage of NBAF opportunities,” It was determined that having a positive online presence was the number one priority. “Wamego has so much to offer and the old site wasn’t really doing the community justice. This was a great opportunity to improve its online image,” Roller said. Imagemakers was chosen for the project because not only are they a hometown business but they have previously designed award winning promotional materials for the Wamego Convention and Visitors Bureau. Competing against communities as large as Wichita, the CVB’s brochures and billboards, created by Imagemakers, were awarded “Outstanding Promotional Brochures” and “Outstanding Advertising” And, as a local business, Imagemakers continues to provide technical assistance as city employees begin updating the calendar and other information on the website. “We’re still learning, but it has been an easy transition with the help of the people at Imagemakers. They have been very good about answering all of our questions as we move forward,” Page said. Imagemakers will continue to be there, according to Dan Holmgren, Creative Director of Imagemakers. “We’re here to help answer questions as long as there are questions being asked,” Holmgren said. Holmgren and his team at Imagemakers are also happy to help spread the word about what Wamego has to offer. “The site was built for residents, potential residents, local businesses and potential businesses in mind. We wanted to feature nice photos which would showcase the city and the beauty of this area. We also wanted people to see at a glance what is going on in Wamego, because this is a vibrant and exciting community in which to live and do business,” Holmgren said. Roller and Page believe Imagemakers hit the mark and have created a website that not only is valuable for the residents and those typing “Wamego” into a search engine, but that also creates continuity with the CVB and economic development websites. “It’s clean, modern and full of information. The CVB has committed a lot of dollars to marketing the community and the City’s new website really helps complement their efforts,” said Roller. The new, updated website is found at: http://www.wamego.org. # # # Providing the kind of web development, graphic design, and advertising efforts that get results.
