July 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Movie theaters, Church Confessionals, Private Offices, Practice and Recording Studios, all these places have one thing in common, privacy and noise reduction is of utmost importance.  Acoustimac has been doing some of its own R&D and combed the web and supplier catalogs for the simplest to deploy, and most effective soundproofing products in the market and we've found some that will definitely get the job done.

Before we go on, there is one clarification we need to make:

Please remember, Soundproofing is not the same as a standard acoustic  treatment.  Generally your standard acoustic treatments remove unpleasant elements such as reverb and echo, conditioning a room’s sound.  Acoustimac’s Acoustic treatment solutions can be deployed in virtually any scenario, all you need to do is provide a percentile coverage of your hard surfaces, hang up enough panels and bass traps on the walls and ceilings  and your good to go.  Acoustimac recommends 25% to 40% wall coverage.

Soundproofing on the other hand, is a more laborious process which involves working with your walls, ceilings, floors and building materials, depending on the purpose of your soundproofing project.

There are two Main Purposes for Soundproofing:

- Prevent outside sound from coming into the treated room or building.
- Prevent sound emitted in the treated room or building from being heard outside.

In order to effectively soundproof a room to achieve both purposes, there are two key ingredients to get it done which need to be implemented over existing walls, ceilings and floors, or embedded into the walls, ceilings and floors of your new project:

-Mass Loaded Vinyl is the # 1 product used for soundproofing walls, floors and ceilings. It can be used as an underlay for carpets and can be tacked on to the joists on your ceiling and wall studs.

-Green Glue: A Visco-elastic adhesive used to sandwich two layers of Sheet Rock or Gypsum Board for the walls.  Apply a generous layer of adhesive on the back of one  layer with a caulk gun and paste the second layer flush with the fist.

Acoustimac.com now sells rolls of Mass Loaded Vinyl and the state-of-the-art Green Glue Visco-Elastic Adhesive at excellent prices, and as usual, our sound advice is totally free so give us a call today!
