Sandcarving Training and Workshop July 30th - 31st - Save $100

July 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Rayzist Photomask is holding a hands-on Sandcarving Workshop on Friday and Saturday July 30th and 31st in Vista, California. Everyone attending the Sandcarving Training Workshop will receive coaching in basic to intermediate sandcarving techniques. All attendees will receive personalized instruction on topics ranging from producing a Photomask to creating multi-stage carvings.

The cost for the class is normally $500 per person but a $100 discount is being offered while spots are available if students are signed up by July 23rd, 2010. Total cost with the discount is $400 for 1 ½ days of hands on training. The classes are broken up into several areas:

Artwork - Each student will be trained on how to work with and convert designs to vector artwork, how to convert color artwork, steps to identifying and correcting poor quality artwork and using web quality resolution.

Sandblasting – Students will learn production techniques, using photo resist film, handling optic crystal and mask application techniques. This is hands on so students complete their own projects during the classes.

Each attendee will complete 5 showroom ready etching projects , Optic Crystal award, Stone, halftone photo plate, multi stage carve award, etc.

•   Assessing artwork quality
•   Cleaning up artwork
•   Producing quality black-and-white artwork
•   Vector artwork, bitmaps and JPEGs
•   Handling and receiving correct file formats

2. Photo Basics
•   Adjusting and converting image to grayscale
•   Removing backgrounds
•   Adjusting levels
•   Performing bitmap line conversion
•   Inverting and printing photo images

3. Making a Premium Photomask
•   Using different mils
•   Identifying film prints
•   How to make the photomask
•   Handling half-tone photos
•   Troubleshooting

4. Hands-on Etching
•   Surface and halftone etching  
•   Moderate etch and colorfill
•   Stone carving and colorfill
•   Etching and handling optic crystal
•   Multi-stage carving

5. Production Techniques
•   Applying photomask to different surfaces
•   Working with curved surfaces
•   Surface preparation
•   UV gluing/bonding
•   Painting (colorfill) engraved surfaces
