| Hard to Believe: Cybercrime A Mystery to Senior Executives?Citing an IT study, Seattle Biz Coach Terry Corbell says CEOs need to be brought up-to-speed about the security dangers lurking on the Internet.
By: Terry Corbell “There is plenty of evidence that cybercriminal activity is flourishing,” “I see a ton of cybercrime data, but 81 percent of the responding 591 IT pros believes management remains unaware about the dangers to their firms when it comes to Internet security,” he adds. Mr. Corbell is referring to a study conducted by the Ponemon Institute for NetWitness. “Not only did it involve opinions about CEOs, the same fears were attributed to a lack of understanding by government agencies,” explains the profit professional. The study reports other red flags: 83 percent said their organization has been a recent target of advanced threats, and 41 percent said they were frequently attacked. “Our experience confirms the validity of these statistics,” “The cybercrime problem is only going to get worse as more and more small and medium size businesses fall victim to online bank fraud,” adds Dr. Stahl.
