July 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Just recently, two smartphones from HTC are creating a buzz in the mobile phone industry. What makes these phones interesting to consumers is the fact that one seems to be a compact version of the other. Interestingly, the mini successor, HTC Wildfire, comes at a lower price, making it available to a wider range of consumers. In fact, it’s said to be priced at only two thirds the price of its predecessor, HTC Desire. Below you can find a brief overview of these two smartphones.
Enhanced Nexus One
Following the success of Nexus One, it would appear that HTC designed their HTC Desire in such a way that makes it seem like an enhanced version of Google Nexus One. This probably makes the phone one of the most advanced smartphones available in the market today. While the Nexus One features a trackball, this mobile phone is equipped with a trackpad that makes browsing through options and icons faster and easier.
Talking about the user interface, the HTC Sense is one of the things present in this device that the company brags about. There are many plus points to this UI, most of which focus in giving your device that personalized look, but the most well liked is its ability to pull together information from social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter in one place. This is so you can stay updated and connected with your friends and contacts at a touch of a button.
The HTC Desire probably possesses one of the largest display panels found in mobile phones today. You’d probably think that the size has a huge impact on energy consumption; this, however, is not the case since the 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that sports 480 x 800 pixel resolution is a technology employed by the company to allow energy conservation as opposed to the standard LCD screens commonly seen in other smartphones. The images are even crispier and clearer with this display panel, making pictures taken from the 5-megapixel camera at the back a lot more appealing.
Because the operating system is Android 2.1 and the host of other features, it’s only fitting that HTC placed a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the device. Couple this with a 512 MB ROM and 576 MB RAM, you have in your hands a powerful mobile that enables you to zap through a number of applications easily.
The Mini Version
If the smartphone mentioned above looks like an upgrade of Nexus One, the HTC Wildfire, on the other hand, appears to be the mini version. It houses the same applications and features as the one mentioned above except that a lot more compact. At dimensions of 106.8 x 60.4 x 12 mm, it’s actually over 12 mm shorter than its predecessor. In effect, its display panel which is a TFT capacitive touchscreen is also smaller at only 3.2 inches.
Because the panel is smaller, the HTC Wildfire doesn’t really need a high end chip. The applications can smoothly run even with just a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7225 processor.
Which is the Better Model
The question of which is the better model between the two really depends on your preference. The selling point, however, of HTC Wildfire is that it’s a lot more affordable than the HTC Desire.  GP
