July 1, 2010 - PRLog -- STV, Scotland’s ITV franchise based in Glasgow, has sealed a content deal with YouTube to make more than 2500 hours of new and archive content available to users of the site in the UK and overseas.

The deal, which is only for STV-produced or acquired programming and does not cover parent ITV programmes, will offer a catch up service for a number of TV shows in addition to full length programmes and a variety of clips. The STV Player channel will be available to viewers on YouTube’s TV Shows section this summer.

Matt Brittin, UK Managing Director for Google, commented on the project: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with another major broadcaster that has decided to make their content available to the YouTube community. (The deal) brings viewers great STV content”.

Bobby Hain, STV’s Managing Director of Programming, added: “Our content can now reach (viewers) worldwide.”
