June 2, 2010 - PRLog -- A new version of Skype’s iPhone application has been released early this week by the VoIP software company to enable users to make and receive Skype-to-Skype calls, and to call mobiles and landlines around the world at very low rates for the first time over their 3G data connection.

This new application, already available to download for free from the App Store, is compatible with the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch and iPad. It requires iPhone OS version 3.0 and above and also features near CD-quality sound, enhanced call quality indicator as well as a rapid access to the dial pad from the home screen.

Commenting on this new development, Russ Shaw General Manager for Mobile, Skype said: “Using Skype on 3G has been the number one request among our iPhone customers. This new version is a great step towards enabling our customers to take and use Skype everywhere they go.”

Until the end of this year, Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G will be for free, and details of pricing are expected in the coming months.
