Brookfield’s Rockrose at The Foothills Named Finalist in 2010 Gold Nugget Awards

May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Rockrose at The Foothills in Carlsbad has been named a finalist in four categories for this year’s Gold Nugget Awards, an annual competition that solicits the best in design/build innovation from 14 Western States and all international countries.  Presented by the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC), the 2010 Gold Nugget Awards will be presented on June 10 in San Francisco.

Brookfield’s Rockrose community is being championed for its energy and water saving features and is being considered for Green Sustainable Community of the Year, Residential Detached Community of the Year, Best Single Family Detached Home 2,000 to 3,000 Sq Ft. on a Conventional Lot and Best Single Family Detached Home 3,000 Sq Ft. or more on a Conventional Lot.

“We spent two years researching how to involve our company in the green building movement in a meaningful and credible way, and Rockrose is the result of that exhaustive process,” said Lora Heramb, vice president of sales and marketing for Brookfield Homes.  “Being a finalist in the Green Sustainable Community category is a meaningful validation of our efforts and a real morale booster for our team.”

Exceeding California’s energy standards by at least 35 percent, homes at Rockrose by Brookfield are the most energy-efficient new homes in San Diego County. Doubling as an educational resource for consumers seeking information about sustainable practices, the model complex at Rockrose also showcases water conservation features and drought tolerant landscaping.

Upon completion, Rockrose at The Foothills will feature 101 single-family detached homes ranging from 2,116 to 3,167 square feet. The homes exhibit six areas of eco-savvy concentration, including energy conservation, water conservation, waste reduction, indoor air quality, sustainable building materials/wood conservation and renewable energy/solar power (optional).

The Foothills master-planned community will house a swim club with solar-heated pool, kids pool and spa, two paddle tennis courts, barbeque area, fireplace conversation area, and tot lot that is scheduled to open in late June. The community is positioned close to public transportation and only three miles from the beach.

As a finalist in four categories, Rockrose at The Foothills by Brookfield Homes is among 440 entries in this year’s 47th Annual Gold Nugget Awards. Nominees are evaluated by some of the most prominent architects, planners and builders in the industry.
