Follow on Google News | Senator Josh Lee's Personal Papers FoundJosh Lee was a U.S. Senator from Oklahoma during those turbulent years just before World War II Thanks to a friendly tornado that tore the roof off an old barn, three duffel bags of correspondence to the Senator, etc. has been found.
By: Lin Stone He saw books, letters, and pictures that had apparently once been the personal property of Josh Lee. The papers, pictures and effects took on greater importance when this Josh Lee turned out to be a United States Senator -- and the correspondence inside turned out to be his personal memoirs. There were over 90 copies of the Senator's book. Stamp lovers will go ga-ga over the three duffel bags full of personal mail to their Senator. Senator Lee had fine taste when it came to pictures. One picture (of a painting) showed General MacArthur when he had only one star on his shoulders but stood just as proudly as ever. It wouldn't be at all surprising to find personal letters passing through the General's hands into the Senator's hands.. or for that matter to have correspondence between the Senator and the President. The explorers were admonished repeatedly to leave the piles and piles of correspondence alone and not to move anything. One picture is almost definitely a chronicle of FDR's inaugural address in 1937.
