Free Writer’s Workshops Today - Attend Locally or Online

Roseau, Minnesota writers receive training from award-winning journalist and author, John Rosengren today as part of the Northwest Regional Library's 2010 Spring Author Expo.

May 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Do you want to be a freelance writer? Join author, John Rosengren, today as he presents a writer’s workshop and public presentation today during his visit to Roseau, Minnesota.

Rosengren is the sixth of seven guest authors to teach during the Northwest Regional Library’s 2010 Spring Author Expo. You are welcome to attend in person or online without fee or pre-registration.

At 5 PM today, Rosengren trains writers on the topic, “Living the Freelance Writer's Dream,” explaining strategies he used to become an award-winning freelance writer with more than 100 publications ranging from Reader’s Digest to Sports Illustrated. At 7PM the general public is invited to a presentation entitled, “For the Love of the Game: Hockey Stories for Our Time.” John will share stories about Minnesota hockey, what the game means to people, and what is won and lost in the lives of players and their parents.

Earlier in the day, John is doing a program at the Roseau Public High School entitled, “Profiles in Courage.” Drawing from his experience interviewing hundreds of people over the past three decades, John challenges students with stories of people with the heart to overcome obstacles and demonstrate the human spirit’s potential. Students will be motivated to define and pursue their dreams.

Patrons who live in Northern Minnesota are encouraged to carpool to meet John Rosengren. John Rosengren is an award-winning journalist and author.  He has written six books, including the widely-acclaimed Blades of Glory: The True Story of a Young Team Bred to Win. His articles have appeared in more than 100 publications, ranging from Sports Illustrated to Reader's Digest.  He is a member of the American Society of Journalists & Authors and the Society for American Baseball Research.  He teaches a course in magazine writing at the University of Minnesota Journalism School and lives in Minneapolis with his wife and their two children.
