Relative Space Opens Pop-Up Design Shop for ICFF 2010

May 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Relative Space, a Canadian custom-design flooring and carpeting multi-product company opens a new consumer and concept showroom program showcasing sustainable and LEED-compliant wood and textiles, located at 2 Bond Street near Broadway in New York. Products include the Fuse, Vorworks and Luminoso brands. This new consumer design education program begins in June 2010 by weekend appointment at bond@relative-space.com.

Top New York interior designers and architects will provide client-side services onsite at the Relative Space showroom, including Courtney Sloane of Alternative Design (www.alternativedesign.com) and Dror Benshetrit of Studio Dror (www.studiodror.com) among others in coming months.

Current commercial projects completed by the in-house Relative Space design consultancy team in New York include the Hyatt Andaz on Wall Street with David Rockwell and 75 Portland by Philippe Starck’s YOO Brand.

For ICFF 2010, Readymade Projects presents a curated selection of the best international designer objects, lighting and furniture from the private collections of New York City’s designer community for sale.

Stephen Burks of Readymade Projects, in association with the Relative Space showroom, has asked fellow design aficionados like David Weeks, Dror Benshetrit, Jamie Gray, Lindsey Adelman, and Todd Bracher to put their gently used designer, with a capital ‘D’, products up for a sale of pre-owned contemporary classics.

The result is an artfully piled trove of goods in search of a new home, each item tagged with its former owner, original designer and manufacturer, date designed, date purchased, and price. Relative Space opened its doors to the architecture and design community in early September 2009 by private appointment and citywide project work with developers. Special event highlights for the AD industry have included a presentation by Berlin-based architect Juergen Mayer H and MoMA’s architecture curator Andres Lepik, the New York launch of Architizer.com with the firm HWKN, and a Pratt graduate design department sculptural wood exhibit called ‘Animal Abstractions.’
