IT Training high on many businesses agendas

April 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Deverill, one of the south coasts’s leading IT and outsourcing companies, has seen a 30 per cent increase in enquiries for IT training courses over the past five months compared to the same period in 2008, highlighting that training is still high on the agenda for many businesses wanting to stay on top during the recession.

This suggests that many of the county’s businesses are using IT courses to be seen to be doing all they can to increase staff productivity, morale and to boost sales in order to combat the credit crunch.

Joel Jervis, CEO of Deverill, said: “We believe that the increase in enquiries for many of our training courses is not only down to the current economic climate, but is also as a result of a new Bill which is due to be passed through Parliament in the autumn.
The Apprenticeships, Children, Skills and Learning Bill is part of the Government’s strategy to improve the UK skills base by giving employees the right to request time off for skills training. Employers will be legally obliged to seriously consider requests for training, although could refuse a request if there is a good business reason to do so.

Joel added: “Businesses need to recognise this tough period will not last forever. Those who take the opportunity to invest in their staff will stand out from the rest, and will be best placed to continue to have success in the future.”
