Scentsy, 85 Fragrances and Growing

By the end of 2009 Scentsy had released 85 fragrances. Scentsy plans on releasing a new fragrance every month during 2010, putting them at just under 100 fragrances by the end of the year.

April 19, 2010 - PRLog -- As of the end of 2009, Scentsy - manufacturer of candle warmers and scented candle bars - had released 85 different fragrances of candle bars. As part of their "Scent of the Month" program, Scentsy plans to continue to release one new scent every single month. This means that by the end of 2010, Scentsy will have close to 100 fragrance candles on the market.

Scentsy has eight collections of fragrance bars, each with between 5 and 20 different fragrances:

Bakery Collection
Fall & Winter Collection
Favorites Collection
Romance Collection
Scentsy Cafe Collection
Scentsy Man Collection
Spa Collection
Tropical Collection

Each fragrance candle bar has six break-apart sections and costs only $5. To enjoy one of the scents, you simply break off a couple sections of the bar and place them in the tray that sits atop the Scentsy candle warmer (http://scentsy.tumblr.com/Scentsy-Candles). The low-wattage bulb in the candle warmer then "warms" the scent out of the wax as it heats and melts (but does not burn or consume) the wax bar.

On average, each section of a fragrance bar has a minimum of 60-80 hours of life. Since you only use two sections of the six-section bar at a time, you'll get to enjoy each scent for at least 180-240 hours. That's a lot of use for only $5, especially when you compare it to a typical 16-ounce jar candle that only has 50-60 hours of burn time.

Scentsy candles use a food-grade petroleum-based wax, which is the same type of wax grocery stores spray on apples to give them their shine. Scentsy chose this particular type of wax because of its superior scent-loading ability, low melting point, and firmness. Scentsy (http://www.squidoo.com/Scentsy_Wickless_Candles) uses key fragrance oil, which is the highest grade of oil before processing.

Unlike traditional wick candles, Scentsy candles are not burned and consumed and therefore do not release potentially dangerous chemicals or soot into the air. Scentsy candle warmers only warm the scent out of the wax; the wax itself is not consumed but remains in the candle warmer. After the fragrance bar loses its scent, you simply throw the wax away.

Each month, Scentsy releases a brand new scented candle as part of its "Scent of the Month" program. Generally, the scent of the month relates to an upcoming holiday. For example, the November and December 2009 scents were holly berry and cinnamint, both seasonal scents perfect for Christmas and the holidays. The January 2010 scent of the month is berry blush, a romantic fragrance designed to set the perfect mood for Valentine's Day.
