Unlike a lot of RPG scripts, RPGMaster is designed to recreate a classic or modern role playing game in it's entirety.  The 2d view is a classic top down view, similar to Nintendo and SNES style RPG games such as early Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior games.  Using the 3d plugin, the game world becomes fully 3d, using a first person perspective.  This makes the game much like modern RPG games such as Oblivion or Dragon Age.

RPGMaster was designed to be an open ended game engine.  That means you can customize virtually any aspect of the game, including the ability to set the game in any time period or setting.  This means you can make a sci-fi game or a fantasy game, or even a game set in the modern world.  RPGMaster is a blank canvas, and you get to create your own game world using the point and click game creation tools.  Also, the source code, while being proprietary and technically closed source, is still 100% editable and is not obscured or hidden from the game developer, meaning you can extend and tweak RPGMaster in literally any way possible.

All the game creation and editing, as well as the actual gameplay experience all takes place inside your web browser, whether it's Firefox or Internet Explorer, or whatever else you or your players use.  This means that players never have to download anything to start playing, and can access your game on a wealth of devices and locations without worrying.  This also means that getting your game on Facebook is trivially easy, especially when you use the free Social Plugin which provides full Facebook integration.
