April 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Each year as winter ends your first priority should be to seal coat your driveway to protect from the elements that the winter brings to your driveway or parking lot.  The first step should be to fill all the major holes and cracks that arised from the weather.  Typically if the crack is 1/4" or larger it should be filled.  However, if the cracks are smaller than 1/4" you can get away with just using plain old seal coating material to fill the gaps.

You should also make sure that the tempature outside will be above 50 degrees.  In addition check your weather forecast and be sure it's not going to rain for the next two days.  This will ensure that you will have a successful time performing the job.  Before sealcoating your asphalt driveway, make sure that you remove all debris from the area using a thick broom before beginning the resurfacing.  Spray the surface with water so that dust is removed.  The cleaner the driveway is before you begin will result in the seal coating adhering much easier and lasting sometimes more than 2 years.  Also make sure you clean any oil spots with detergent which you can find at your local home improvement store.

After you are finished sealcoating your driveway, make sure you stay off it for at least 2 days to allow for proper drying.  If you are looking to find a local sealcoating contractor who can help service all your asphalt and sealcoating needs visit Hopson Seal-A-Lot at http://www.hopsonsealalot.com for a free quote on all your sealcoating needs.
