GOTCHA Covered NAILSaver’s ™ Supports M.A.W.S. "In Celebration of Mothers" Fundraising Event

April 6, 2010 - PRLog -- .  Those in attendance will have the opportunity to bid on a wide assortment of exclusive auction items.  

GOTCHA Covered NAILSaver’s ™ and many other fine businesses from around the country have generously donated their products and services to help raise money for the Marin Abused Women’s Services (MAWS) program.  

The mistress of ceremonies for the event is Emmy Award winning news anchor Dana King from CBS-KPIX- Channel 5.  Join them May 7 and help MAWS raise funds and awareness to curb domestic violence.  



Domestic violence (DV) is the number one violent crime in Marin County CA, where 60% of homicides over the past five years were DV-related. 12,000 women living in Marin will likely experience violence this coming year. As the economic crisis worsens, so has the intensity of needs from DV victims in Marin. During the past several months, requests for emergency shelter have increased 400%. MAWS, a vital organization that provides for some of the most vulnerable individuals in Marin County, sustains the safety net for victims of DV.
MAWS provides emergency intake, shelter, and hotline support on a 24- hour, 7 day per week basis, in English and Spanish.
Annually, MAWS assist approximately 3,000 victims of DV;
In 2009, MAWS provided a total of 5,548 bed nights of emergency shelter and 17,338 bed nights of transitional housing



About MAWS:  Marin Abused Women’s Services (MAWS) was founded in 1977 in response to the escalating levels of domestic violence in Marin County. Through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and staff and more than 30 years of hard work, MAWS has developed a comprehensive range of support services including: emergency shelter, short- and long-term transitional housing, advocacy, legal referrals, and a men’s program that offers men concrete ways to end their violence.
