April 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Tony Argiz, CEO and managing partner of nationally recognized accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP (MBAF), was recently honored with the Silver Medallion Award from the Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews (MCCJ). The Silver Medallion Award is given annually to community leaders who have made outstanding contributions to Greater Miami through their volunteerism, advocacy for diversity and philanthropy.

“Tony’s many humanitarian efforts have been a tremendous benefit to the Greater Miami community through his involvement with influential charities, and he rightfully deserves to be recognized among Miami’s outstanding philanthropists,” said Kenneth Hoffman, chairman of the MCCJ board.  “He has led a number of important philanthropic organizations, most recently as the President and Chair of The Orange Bowl Committee.”

A longtime business and community leader, Argiz is active in many civic and charitable organizations including the Orange Bowl Committee, for which he currently serves as Chairman of the Board. He has also served as past Chairman of the United Way of Miami-Dade, past Chairman of the Miami Dade College Foundation, past Chairman of the Council of 100 at Florida International University, Executive Committee member of The Beacon Council, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, and Board Member of AvMed Health Plans.

“It is a true privilege to be recognized by an organization that encourages tolerance of cultural and religious differences for the betterment of our communities,” said Argiz. “I take my inspiration from my mentor and Jewish father, Al Morrison, who taught me that it does not matter whether you are Jewish or Catholic, but that you are an honest, compassionate individual.”
