March 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Applied Technology Group, LLC (ATG), a leading provider of imaging solutions for the legal and professional services community since 1996, today announced the availability of ExpertImage Version 7.8, the latest upgrade of the company’s flagship imaging technology. Version 7.8 adds new workflow integration features, enhanced PDF viewing capabilities, advanced administrator functionality, and more flexible searching.

ExpertImage v7.8 takes imaging beyond the financial document arena where it previously established itself as the leading imaging application for ADERANT Expert users. As with previous versions, users can choose from a variety of predefined templates such as billing, prebills, AP invoices, cash receipts and file opening documents which integrate directly with the financial system. With ExpertImage v7.8, users can now capture and incorporate any type of image, whether it’s integrated with another SQL-based application or used standalone.

Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP, a leading full service Canadian law firm of over 135 lawyers, first rolled out ExpertImage at the end of 2008 as part of the firm’s ADERANT Expert implementation and to address the firm’s goal of drastically reducing paper firm-wide. “Our introduction of ExpertImage has been a very worthwhile project, not only from a cost savings standpoint, but also from an efficiency, productivity, and workflow perspective,” stated Alice McEvoy-Willis, the firm’s Accounting Coordinator responsible for ADERANT’s financial management system. “Today, we have more physical space than ever because we have eliminated the requirement of microfiching and storing about 240 boxes of data annually.  We no longer have to pay a third party for microfiche services related to all of our Accounting data, including bills and invoices, something that equates to a $20,000/year cost savings.”

Beyond quantifiable cost savings, the firm has utilized ExpertImage to become more responsive to client needs and requests. “We now have a very streamlined imaging process in place which enables on-demand viewing of bills and documents with the click of a button. The attorneys/assistants love it because they can access any images on their own and provide their clients with answers to billing questions in a much quicker fashion,” concluded Ms. McEvoy-Willis.

According to Shane Taylor, Controller of Siskinds LLP, a 70 lawyer, London, Ontario-based firm, ExpertImage has paid for itself within a year of implementation. “Since roll-out in early 2008, we have seen major savings in the time it takes to handle all of our bills and documents as well as storage savings. We were able to reduce on-site storage by 50% and are now sending a lot less documents off-site. In addition to the immediate cost savings, the ability to customize ExpertImage based on our specific requirements, and the fact that IT declared this the easiest implementation ever, more than justify our decision to select ExpertImage for imaging.”

ExpertImage v7.8 includes several new features and capabilities:

•   Built-in PDF viewer: A split screen shows the PDF for the currently selected row
•   More module options: ExpertImage Pro and Standard versions give firms added flexibility when addressing their imaging needs
•   Improved security
•   More flexible search options
•   “Check for application updates” option for administrators
•   Email notification of system events
•   Foreign language support

“ExpertImage v7.8 gives firms more options in terms of cost cutting and cost control,” said Mike Bowie, President, ATG. "Our strategy has always been to deliver imaging technology that is easy to implement, easy to train, and provides a tangible and proven return on investment, within a realistic timeframe. Firms are now realizing that updating their imaging capabilities is no longer a 'nice to have', but increasingly a necessity they are keen to invest in.”

ExpertImage is a proven technology for firms looking to reduce paper and cut costs and time associated with document storage, retrieval, and accessibility. Typical savings realized by ExpertImage users include reduced staff expenses, more physical space available based on reduced paper volumes, lower record retrieval costs (now automated and “on-demand”) and less postage and fax costs based on electronic imaging capabilities.
