Mr. Beers is one of 76 Certified Legal Investigators worldwide, of four active in Colorado, and the only such investigator in northern Colorado.  This peer reviewed white paper was the initial requirement of his CLI examination process.  ‘Reviewing and Comprehending Autopsy Reports’ provides the legal investigator with the basic understandings of the autopsy procedure and using that understanding to further their own personal injury and death investigations.  This is also a chapter in his upcoming book, ‘Practical Methods for Legal Investigations: Concepts and Protocols in Civil and Criminal Cases’, available February 2011 from CRC Press.

Of the value of autopsy reports, Mr. Beers notes that, “I have found that understanding the value of the autopsy report, and the information accompanying it, are valuable assets in all legal investigations.  Understanding what an autopsy report tells us about an incident will better prepare the professional Legal Investigator for any personal injury, death, negligence or criminal defense case.   Understanding what is in the autopsy report will give the professional Legal Investigator more insight and resources to rely upon in their own investigation, making them more valuable to their client.”

Mr. Beers provides consultations and case reviews of injury causation and death, and has presented and authored on:  Investigations of Personal Injury, Negligence, Criminal Defense, Death Investigation, Forensic and Legal Photography, Autopsies & Reports, and other related matters.  Peer reviewed articles have appeared in:  The Journal of Forensic Identification, The Legal Investigator, The Larimer County Association of Legal Support Staff, The Professional Investigator, and PI Magazine.

Forensic Investigators of Colorado LLC was founded by Mr. Beers in 1987 and is staffed by himself and his wife and business partner / investigator, Karen Beers.  They can be reached at (970) 691-0813 or by email at beersda@Forensic-Investigators.com.  The agency’s website, www.Forensic-Investigators.com, has detailed information.
