YGL achieves ISO27001 data security standard on Information Security

March 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Ygl is proud to announce that we have reached a new milestone by achieving the ISO27001. This certification upgrades the value of Ygl as we are listed as one of the first software house to obtain this certification in Penang, Malaysia.

ISO 27001 certification is a relatively new standard which companies are now aiming for, and YGL took the lead and went for it in order to achieve the global standards and taking appropriate and adequate security measures to proof their unspoken commitment to protect information assets and give confidence to interested parties.

ISO 27001 specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving a documented Information Security Management System within the context of the organization's overall business risks. It specifies requirements for the implementation of security controls customized to the needs of individual organizations or parts thereof. A certification audit will be carried out each year which means in order to sustain the certification they will have to engage in continuous improvement along the lines of information security.

ISO 27001 is the international standard developed exclusively for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), requiring companies to employ a methodical approach to managing sensitive information and ensuring data security.


The standard comprises ten exhaustive control categories including organisation of information security, access controls, physical and environmental security, asset management, business continuity management, communications and operations management.
