Born in San Pedro, TRS has produced many outstanding plays, multimedia productions and musicals in their first few years in addition to film screenings and comedy events. TRS’ mission is to challenge hearts, engage minds and expose truths through the performing arts. TRS cultivates the arts in youth by offering a 4-week, annual summer performing arts camp, called TRS Youthorizons. TRS has worked in partnership with many community organizations to assist in producing ancillary Warner Grand Theatre events such as Black Heritage, Super Service Saturday, Art Finding's Little Heart, and the upcoming Chamber event, The Star Awards - to name a few. From hard hitting dramatic plays like Acts of Desperation and Over There/Over Here, large cast musicals like Urinetown The Musical, Bat Boy The Musical, Singing Jailbirds The Musical, the critically acclaimed yearly tradition: The Christmas Carol, to small cast musicals and revues like The Last Five Years, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and the upcoming Forever Plaid – TRS offers variety and quality. Combine this with other TRS programming like TRS Youthorizons, San Pedro BrewHaHa, Warner On Wednesdays Summer Film Festival – and The Relevant Stage brings more that 70 entertainment opportunities to Warner Grand Theatre, each year. TRS also performs at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, CA and will create an auxiliary season of events for that venue in 2011, while continuing its main stage work here at its home, in San Pedro at Warner Grand Theatre. This outreach to Orange County provides marketing exposure and audience attraction to downtown San Pedro. Recently through partnerships with the County of Los Angeles, over 500 senior citizens from L.A. came to see I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, for free. Still to come in 2010 from TRS is Dirty Rotten Scoundrels The Musical in June, a staged reading of a brand new musical, The One and Only in July, Forever Plaid in August, 6th Street Burlesque in September, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in November, and The Christmas Carol in December. In February, 2011 TRS will bring to the stage Kiss Me Kate. End
