For the past twenty years, Nigel Barker has been taking the world of fashion by storm. After stints in Milan, Paris and London, Barker opened his New York Studio in 1996 and has never looked back.  Barker's presence in the fashion and entertainment industry has resulted in an array of exciting projects including the creation of his own show, "The Shot," on VH1. Nigel Barker's new book, "Beauty Equation" hits stores during Fall Fashion Week 2010.  He also directs and produces films, documentaries and commercials for fashion, entertainment and Hollywood clients to international charitable organizations including The Humane Society of the United States, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Do Something, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Association and The Edeyo Foundation.
            Aside from our up close and personal interview with Nigel Barker, we also pay tribute to Nigel's fundraiser "Rebuild Haiti" and the Edeyo Foundation.  In May of 2008, Nigel and his crew went to Haiti and created a dramatic documentary to bring more awareness to the Haitian people.

            Nigel Barker was born in London and educated in the English countryside. His introduction into the fashion industry was in the mid 1980's when he appeared on "The Clothes Show," a televised model search in England. This launched his successful modeling career which took him all over the world working for Giorgo Armani, Valentino, Gaultier, Kenzo, Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren.  After a decade in front of the camera, Barker followed his dream to become a photographer and moved to the other side of the lens. By 1996, Barker had launched his own photo studio, Studio NB in Manhattan's fashionable meat packing district.  Barker's work has appeared in a variety of publications including Oyster, Interview, Paper Mag, Black & White, Instinct, Zink, Angeleno and Playboy, among others.  Barker's clients include Saks Fifth Avenue, Nicole Miller, Gortex and Bulgari to list a few.  Barker has been a great help to many models over the years, carefully nurturing their careers while satisfying clients with his keen eye for casting the perfect person for each project.  Because of his background, Barker brings a unique sensitivity to the relationships he forms with his subjects.  He plays the role of a director pouring his energy into coaxing out the inner beauty in every subject he shoots.  He's brought this wealth of experience to his new book,  "Beauty Equation" which be released during the 2010 Fall Fashion Week.  He currently resides in New York with his wife, Cristen, son Jack and daughter Jasmine.
