European Mobile Market: 1 Billion subscribers milestone in 2010; 140% penetration by 2015

March 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Europe, the most advanced market in the world in terms of mobile telephony widespread adoption by the masses, still remains the land of significant potential growth for the next coming years.

As a matter of fact, according to Dataxis Intelligence forecasts, the European mobile subscribers that stood at 987 million at the end of 2009, is expected to break the 1 Billion milestone in 2010, and rise to more than 1.14 billion by 2015-end (See Chart below).

This will represent an appreciable uptake of 16% between 2009 and 2015 which means for market players, there are roughly 160 million new subscriptions to compete for in the referred period.

In terms of market penetration, Dataxis expects it to reach about 140% of the population by 2015 up from 120% currently, thus conforming the region’s leadership position compared to North America for instance where penetration rates are currently well under 100%.
