Ncn ’10 Grows Rising Boston Music Scene

No Contracts Needed is about seeing indie bands as they break into the fold. NCN 10 includes the Rompetition, a 52-band battle for prizes, followed by the NCN 10 Grand Finale at The Regent Theater in Arlington, MA and featuring Destroy Babylon.
 
Feb. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- CHARLESTOWN, MA: F Nice Records will announce today the bill for the 3rd annual, No Contracts Needed which will be held on March 19th, 2010 at The Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA. The theatre show will present Travel Info, The Flo, Sour D and headliners, Destroy Babylon. The show will be opened up by the winner of the fifty-two contestant, dual round battle of the bands known as the “NCN Rompetition.” No Contracts Needed and the Rompetition are sponsored by Green Side Up, Stringray Body Art, Sanctum Sound and Rick “Star” Recording. In addition, the whole competition will be broadcast live on UNRegular Radio at www.unregularradio.com.

In No Contracts Needed’s third year of promoting rising independent artists within the Boston local music scene, NCN has taken its game to another level with the addition of known dub-reggae, punk-rock band, Destroy Babylon. Destroy Babylon sold out the Middle East Upstairs on New Years Day and has recently been described by The Boston Globe as "Reggae-Rock with an agenda."

F Nice Records president, Matt Lax said, “No Contracts Needed gives bands, both signed and indie artists, an opportunity to play together for fun and great prizes. Every one of the eight NCN shows have amazing lineups and are going to be fantastic nights of live music."

No Contracts Needed’s opening band will be the NCN Rompetition winner. This battle of the bands is set to host fifty-two bands in six opening round shows starting on February 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, and 19th at McGann’s in Boston and on February 20th with an all ages show at All Asia in Cambridge. Six finalists and one wild card band will yield from the opening round. These sevens acts will then meet on March 6th at The Middle East Upstairs in the finals. This year’s winner will not only have a spot on the No Contracts Needed stage, but will also win two days of recording time at Sanctum Sound, a duplication and distribution deal with F Nice Records and other prizes from No Contracts Needed’s sponsors. Tickets for the NCN Rompetition’s opening round are now available for $5 at fnicerecords.com.

Tickets for No Contracts Needed 2010 can now be purchased at fnicerecords.com/tickets for $10 before the day of the show. Otherwise, entry will be $15 at the door on Friday March 19th. This show is all ages and starts at 6:30pm.
