Online Hacks Prompt Warnings and Tips, Biz Coach Terry Corbell

Jan. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Troubled by reports of numerous Internet scams involving millions of dollars, Seattle Biz Coach Terry Corbell has interviewed a cybersecurity expert, who provides security tips for consumers and businesses.

“The FBI warned about online fraud and related scams – losses are in the millions not including the theft of ‘tens of millions of dollars’ reportedly suffered by Citibank according to a Wall Street Journal report,” says the business performance consultant. “For Citibank customers and millions of other consumers who enjoy the convenience of online banking, the article was shocking news.”

The Biz Coach interviewed a noted Los Angeles Internet security expert, Dr. Stan Stahl, who provides his strategies for Internet safety.

“I feel the banks must bear a significant share of the responsibility because they have the knowledge of what’s happening yet, in my experience and based on what I’ve been told by people in law enforcement, they are not working the problem with their customers nor are they supporting law enforcement by sharing what they know,” said Dr. Stahl. “They strike me as wanting to pretend this isn’t a problem.”

Since the Wall Street Journal article on December 22, 2009 about the Citibank situation, little or nothing has been reported, according to Mr. Corbell. “The reported multimillion dollar loss – a public relations nightmare for Citibank – has ostensibly been hushed up.”
