We built pens, raised the chicks, and even introduced the idea to schools, outdoor education programs, and land managers. But when I saw the birds in action, I felt that they more like pets than wild animals. But something was about to happen that changed my mind. WHAT'S NEXT? There are many factors effecting the bobwhites decline, including change in habitat management strategies, real estate development, the stopping of state raise and release stocking programs for native birds, and both avian and cat predation.
