Change in the Trend in Israel’s Unemployment Figures since July

The Israel National Employment Service has announced that the unemployment rate fell by 0.4% to 206,000 in November 2009, as compared to 206,800 in October.
 
Dec. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- The Israel National Employment Service has announced that the unemployment rate fell by 0.4% to 206,000 in November 2009, as compared to 206,800 in October.

Globes quotes the Director General of the Employment Service Director General Yossi Farhi: "We can say that there has been a change in the trend in unemployment figures beginning in July. After the number of unemployed rose 25% from 168,900 in April 2008 to 211,200 in June 2009, the unemployment rate has been falling by an average of 0.5% per month, from 211,200 in June to 206,000 in November, a cumulative drop of 2.5%."

The Employment Service’s report for November noted that 222,400 jobseekers submitted applications during the month, an increase from 221,600 jobseekers in October. Excluding seasonal factors and the Jewish holidays in October, the number of jobseekers declined by 1% to 221,500 in November, from 233,700 in October.
