At the gates of the New Orleans’s Cities of the Dead, where over a million souls are laid to rest, lies the Mortuary.  Built as a family home in 1872, & operating as a funeral home for 80 years before falling into ruin, the massive mansion at the end of New Orleans’ streetcar line has seen its share of tragedies. From the untimely deaths of the families that lived inside its walls, to the countless embalming procedures performed within its cellars, the legendary hauntings of the Mortuary have been whispered about among the families of New Orleans for over 100 years.

Vagrants that sought shelter inside the mansion’s forlorn walls spoke of pale phantoms shuffling in the darkness.  Stories were heard of children’s playful voices emanating from the empty building.   People refused to walk on the sidewalk in front of the building, fearful that the ‘woman in the white dress’ who mournfully watched from the upstairs window, would be there to return their stare.

On July 2nd, 2007, the mansion was purchased to become New Orleans’ premier special events venue. Given new life, the mansion informed its “living” staff that they were not alone.  Tools went missing.  Whispered voices were heard in empty rooms.  Phantom footsteps pounded on stairs.  Panes of glass burst unexpectedly.  Ghosts of children were seen running through the building.  A mysterious man was seen pacing the top two floors.  A shadowy form of a teenage girl was known to push and poke visitors, before vanishing in a puff of cigarette smoke.  EVP’s of children arguing with one another were captured, as well as chilling moans emanating from the basement levels.

A research team was hired to chronicle the history of the mansion and its ghostly inhabitants.  The Mortuary has arguably become the most well documented haunting of the last 3 years in America.  Hundreds of encounters with the other side have been recorded and put on display in the evidence vault for the world to see.  But there are secrets still left to reveal.  Who are the souls that wander the basement?  Why are they there?  Why is the embalming room considered the most active room in the house?  Why does the mood of the house change abruptly when entering the basement?  Who is the spirit that reacts with anger to select visitors & what exact form does his anger take?

Find out the answers to these questions and more… if you dare step foot inside one of the most actively haunted homes in America!

Our nationally acclaimed and fully interactive Ghost Hunting 101 seminar covers the basics of ghost hunting, from ghost hunting protocol, to equipment used in the field, to definitions and examples of positive and negative evidence. Following this seminar, we break for dinner.  Upon our return to the Haunted Mortuary, a haunted history lesson is offered, followed by the highlight of the evening; an interactive paranormal investigation of the property.  The night is completed with an evidence sharing and wrap-up session after the investigation.

As with every investigation, Christopher will be using the Telephone to the Dead a.k.a. Frank’s Box. Private readings will be available to Ghost Hunter University attendees at a discounted rate.

Please call Haunted Times Magazine at 877-880-6232 for more information and reservations.
