FRUITTRADE 2010 has already set a date

It will take place the 6th and 7th of October, 2010, alongside with the National Fruit and Vegetable Producers Convention in Santiago, Chile. Both events shape the most important meeting of the fruit industry in the Southern Hemisphere.

Dec. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- On October 6th and 7th, 2010, the Fruit Growers Federation of Chile (FEDEFRUTA) will carry out the “VIII International Business Round Table; Chilean Fruit and Vegetables for Export” in the Santiago Sheraton Hotel. The event, also known as FRUITTRADE, is one that counts on the support of the Ministry of Agriculture Exports Promotion Fund (managed by ProChile).

FRUITTRADE creates a platform that allows fruit and vegetable buyers to meet with the exporters of Chile, a country which has grown into a fruit and vegetable export leader in the Southern Hemisphere, to establish contact and generate business. It will be complemented with the National Convention of Fruit and Vegetable Producers, a mega-seminar in which technical lectures of market management will take place.

The last version of both events was attended by over 1100 people, between producers, buyers, sellers and specialists. An especially positive outcome was the participation of exhibiting companies which increased a total of 17%.

In the specific case of FRUITTRADE, buyers from all over the world, including Europe, America, the Middle East and the Far East, attended the event to carry out a total of 683 meetings with producers who represented a fruit offering valued at 400 million dollars.

And the results left them satisfied. According to a survey carried out amongst the participants, 100% of the importers asked indicated having established contacts for fruit purchase in the following seasons. Meanwhile, 91% of the producers asked assured us of having obtained business contacts for the upcoming seasons. It’s not odd, then, that 92% of the importers and exporters polled have stated their return to the next roundtable.

The buyers enhanced the organization and the possibility of direct contact with hundreds of Chilean producers/exporters of diverse fruits who are considered serious businessmen. The producers, in turn, recognized the great support for internationalization of Chilean businesses.

For the FRUITTRADE organizers, the 2010 event will be a special one full of positive surprises. First, because the world economy is exiting the crisis which predicts more business, but even more importantly because FEDEFRUTA will celebrate it’s 25 year existence in addition to the 200 years of Chilean Independence. For this very reason, many organizers point out that they “hope to double the number of participating buyers”.

Rodrigo Echeverría, the President of FEDEFRUTA, stresses the years of experience accumulated by FRUITTRADE: “This is an event that has consolidated, as it goes into it’s eighth year, and today it is expected by the Chilean and international fruit and vegetable industry. Therefore, I invite those buyers and sellers that are still not familiar with it to get informed and participate. Our years of activity demonstrate that FRUITTRADE is a really useful tool to generate business, contacts and knowledge of the market”.

Since 1985, the Fruit Growers Federation of Chile (FEDEFRUTA) has committed itself to the unification of producers seeking shared criteria for safeguarding their interests through representation and defence of their legitimate rights within the national and international fruit industry and government authorities. It also connects different public and private sector entities to efficiently develop their productive work.

The success achieved in these goals has made FEDEFRUTA the most important union association in the fruit sector and a benchmark in public-private relations, which enables it to actively participate in different policies which determine the direction of the industry. The federation groups more than 1,000 producers and 22 associations, and under its aegis operate the sectorial committees: HORTACH (vegetables), Chilenut (nuts), the Blueberry and Conserved Peach Committees.
