Dec. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- Industrial and organizational psychology have classically addressed issues such as the organization and subjective experience of work, and the implications of globalized workplaces. These topics, among others, call for a detailed analysis of “soft data”. Researchers are required to evaluate and analyze large volumes of unstructured material obtained from observations, interviews, reports and even multimedia sources.  These analytical tasks require a professional digital solution.

Enter Atlas.ti: Its developers took their inspiriation from flexible qualitative research methods, including “grounded theory,” as well as the concrete working styles and needs of researchers. Today it is one of the the leading computer programs worldwide used in qualitative data analysis (QDA). ATLAS.ti places a broad set of digital tools and functions at the researcher’s disposal. All data can be labelled, sorted and annotated directly in the program. Selected segments can be linked and visualized, thus creating a database which can be revisited, revised, or expanded at any time. For example, in an appraisal of job satisfaction, all relevant factors, e.g. regular performance assessments, staff turnover, absenteeism, and advancement opportunities, can be clearly represented and evaluated. ATLAS.ti can be implemented to work with text, image and video data; qualitative video interviews can be coded and analyzed directly in the program. ATLAS.ti is used by many renowned universities, corporate groups and organizations, among them Robert Bosch GmbH, Yahoo!, the World Health Organisation and most major universities worldwide.
